Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Positions Available
The New Orleans Track Club, Inc. seeks to hire qualified candidates to coordinate services for The Rock 'n' Roll Mardi Gras Marathon and Half Marathon to be held February 13, 2010. Please e-mail resume by September 1, 2010 to jobs@runNOTC.org for the following positions:
NOTC News from Race Director
The RiverShack Run highlights the September events (Sept 17th) and will feature the return of the much heralded "Tacky Ashtray" awards. Not just any ashtrays, we have a group of custom commemortive ashtrays from all over the world (including North Dakota, Rome, Germany, and some place called Texas). Don't miss your chance! The Mustard Brothers Band provides post race entertainment inside the RiverShack.
October will be a very busy month beginning with the UNCF 5K Fund Run (Oct 2) at the Riverview in Audubon Park. Then on Friday night, October 8th the Howlin Wolf at 907 S. Peters will host the "Monster Dash" 2 mile benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-Louisiana Chapter. Amenities include fluorescent shirts, food by the Gumbo Shop and Zatarain's and the post race party inside the Howlin Wolf featuring live music by "Flashback".
October events continue with the 2nd Annual "Middendorf's Manchac 10 Mile and 5K" set for Saturday, October 16th. The 10 mile race is the RRCA State Championship. Features include technical fabric t-shirts and the catfish plate lunch courtesy of Middendorf's Seafood Restaurant for race participants. Join us for a great run/walk event at one of Louisiana's most famous restaurants!
We round out October with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's "Race for the Cure" on Saturday, October 23rd. This is one of Louisiana's largest races (over 10,000 expected) and benefits a great cause. See race details on our websitge as registration is now open.
Within the next few weeks registration will also be open for our late fall races events that include the "A Run Through History" 1 mile and 5K (Nov 14) held inside Metairie Cemetery (largest race held in a cemetery in the nation) and for the 103rd Annual "Turkey Day Race" on Thanksgiving Day (Nov 25) followed by the 29th Annual "Ole Man River" Half-Marathon and 5K" set for Sunday, December 19th. Footprints Newsletter Editor Needed
The New Orleans Track Club is still in need of an Editor for Footprints, the club newsletter. We need a volunteer or volunteers to collect stories and articles and coordinate with the designer/printer. The former Editor will be available to assist and direct the person or persons who will take on this very rewarding position. Please contact us at footprints@runNOTC.org if you would like to take on or assist with this position. The NOTC deserves to continue to have a first rate informative newsletter.
Spillway T-Shirts Available
Reordered Spillway Classic Trail Run T-shirts are now available for pick-up at Phidippides Footwear, 6601 Veterans Blvd., Metairie. Please bring your race number with T-shirt tab to claim your shirt. If you did not make the race and do not have your race number please contact the Race Director.
NOTC Board Solicits Input for Strategic Plan
Your ideas and suggestions are requested for consideration as the Board begins work on a Strategic Plan. What areas would you like strengthened or improved? We need your input.
The focus of this effort is to map out short range and long range directions for the club. All areas of operation will be considered including Bylaws, Communications to Members, Dues, Elections of Officers and Board Members, Finances, Footprints Newsletter, Member Services, Possible New Programs, Office Feasibility, Philanthropic Programs, Rock 'n' Roll Mardi Gras Marathon, Road Race Fees and Giveaways, Training Programs, etc.
