Oktoberfest 5K

Rivertown, Kenner, LA

Over 400 participants were greeted with sunny, warm weather and got in the Oktoberfest spirit on the evening of Saturday, October 18th for the 3rd annual Oktoberfest 5k race and the sixth and final Grand Prix series race. The 5:00pm race, held in conjunction with the Deutsches Haus Oktoberfest in Rivertown, Kenner, ran on an out and back course on the levee. Ian Carr won the men's race for a second year in a row in a time of 15:55 and Lauren Ybarzabal led the ladies in a time of 21:06. Top male and female winners in the Overall, Youth, Master, Grandmaster, Senior, and Racewalker divisions received etched glass mugs while age-group winners received light up mugs, all presented on stage inside of the festival. Pre-registered participants enjoyed the addition this year of a dark blue Oktoberfest race singlet for their race give-away item.

Participants and volunteers enjoyed food, drink, and music following the race with complimentary entry into the Oktoberfest with their race bibs. Thanks to Deutsches Haus, Lyte Stix, Elmer's Chee Wees, Kentwood Springs, Louisiana Health and Fitness Magazine, Varsity Sports/Massey's (Grand Prix sponsor), and Lindsey Bergeron from Rock'n'Roll New Orleans Marathon and Half-Marathon for their support with a growing event.
