RRCA Championship Race

Runners endured unseasonable warm temperatures and high humidity during the 32nd Annual "Larry Fuselier" RRCA State Championship 25K and the accompanying 10K and 2 miler. Brendan Minihan, Jr., fresh off his victory at the St. Jude Memphis Half-Marathon where he bested a field of thousands to win in a time of 1:10:05 took the RRCA 25K Louisiana State Championship in a time of 1:37:25. Carolyn Mikulencak was the female RRCA 25K State Champion with a time of 2:05:25. All finish times were considerably slower due to the near record warm temperatures.

In the 10K race, 15 year old female running sensation Malia Cali of St. Thomas Aquinas High School led the entire race (all 10K and 25K runners) through the 5K turnaround point to take the overall 10K title with a time of 38:10. The mens 10K winner was Derrick Lee at 39:20.

As with the 10K race, youth ruled the day in the 2 mile race. 14 year old Joey Provenzano, III took the overall mens title at 12:03 and 12 year old Jenny Ujellegren took the womens 2 mile title at 14:12.

Betsy Boudreaux, the Louisiana RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) State Representative presented the overall 25K State Championship awards.
