It's a New Orleans family tradition... Come out and run before the holiday feast! The NOAC Turkey Day Race is open to all, NOTC members and nonmembers alike.

The 5 Mile race will start at 8:30 AM SHARP. Please take advantage of early Packet Pickup to avoid long lines on race morning.

Parking is available at nearby lots. Arrive early for best parking options.

  • Paved lot on Marconi near stadium entrance
  • Paved lot inside City Park near Storyland between Victory and Dreyfous

Please do NOT park on the neutral grounds of Marconi Drive or Roosevelt Mall. Your vehicle will be ticketed and/or towed if parked illegally.


The 5 Mile and Half-Mile courses are run inside City Park and finish on the track inside Tad Gormley Stadium.


Awards will be distributed shortly after the race. There is no duplication of awards.

5 Mile Race

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Overall Male and Female
  • 1st Youth Male and Female (15-Under)
  • 1st Master Male and Female (40-Over)
  • 1st Grandmaster Male and Female (50-Over)
  • 1st Senior Male and Female (60-Over)
  • 1st Overall Legend Male and Female (70-Over)
  • 1st and 2nd Overall Racewalker Male and Female

Half-Mile Race

Commemorative awards to the top ten male and female finishers.

Timing and Scoring

The races will be electronically timed and scored. You must wear your race bib and D-tag properly to be scored. Your race bib must be worn on the front of your torso and be visible at the finish line. Your D-tag must be worn properly on one of your shoes. See Chronotrack D-Tag Instructions for details.

Preliminary results will be posted at the race site at the conclusion of the race. Full results will be published on the NOTC web site on the afternoon of the race.


T-shirt size and availability guaranteed to preregistered entrants only. Shirts will be distributed at Packet Pickup. Race-day entrants may pick up their shirt while supplies last.


Kentwood Springs Water and Gatorade is provided on the course and at the race site. Post-race beer provided by Crescent Crown Distributing and fruitcake by Baker Maid Products.


Registration is open to NOTC members and nonmembers alike. All participants must be registered and wear an official race bib while on the course.

Families must pre-register - no race day family registration will be available.

    • $20 - Registered by Thursday, November 1, 2012
    • $25 - Registered from Friday, November 2, through Friday, November 16, 2012
    • $30 - Registered on race day
  • Kid's Half-Mile (for ages 14 and under)
    • $10 – Registered by Thursday, November 1, 2012
    • $15 – Registered from Friday, November 2, through Friday, November 16, 2012
    • $20 – Registered on race day
  • Family Registration
    • $40 - Registered by Thursday, November 16, 2012

Family registration includes registration for two adults and other family members age 17 and under living in the same household. Separate entry forms are required for each family member. Family registration includes two T-shirts; additional T-shirts are available for family members for $5 each.

Race Day Registration

Race day registration will be available at the race site starting at 7:00 AM. Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit card. Credit card must be presented.

You must be in line no later than 7:45 AM to register on race day.

Packet Pickup

Skip the long lines on race day and pick up your packet Monday or Tuesday, November 19 or 20, 12:00 noon until 6:00 PM, at the New Orleans Track Club office located at 1050 S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy. in New Orleans. Registration will also be available during packet pickup.

If you are unable to get to packet pickup another person can pick up your packet for you. That person must present a copy of your driver's license.

Race day packet pickup will be available from 7:00-8:00 AM at Tad Gormley Stadium.

Headphone Policy

For your safety and the safety of others the NOTC and the RRCA discourage the use of headphones during the running or walking of the event.

Spina Bifida of Greater New Orleans

Spina Bifida of Greater New Orleans, Inc. is a non-profit, tax exempt organization for the expressed purpose of providing services to those persons born with Spina Bifida and their families, and to increase public awareness about Spina Bifida and its prevention. The Organization consists of individuals with Spina Bifida, their families, and other interested persons united to enhance the quality of life for persons with Spina Bifida.
