Pre-Race Packet and Shirt Pickup: There will be a special one day packet pickup event at Phidippides Sports in Metairie (6601 Veterans Blvd.)

Wednesday, July 16^th from 2:00PM till 5:00PM

Pickup of race number and T-Shirts for Mailed In, Faxed In, On-Line entrants.  Registration on site. T-shirts distributed to other entrants that have received their race number already via in-person registration. (you must have race number to pickup shirts, no exceptions)

PLACE: Bonnet Carre Spillway Boat Launch Pavilion, Norco, Louisiana

(about 20 miles west of New Orleans).

Directions: From New Orleans, proceed westbound on I-10 to I-310 just past Kenner. From the Baton Rouge area, proceed eastbound on I-10 to I-310, located just before Kenner.

Exit at I-310 south and continue to Hwy-61 (first interchange) exit westbound towards Norco and Laplace on Hwy 61. Continue for @ 6 miles, to just past the Shell Oil Refinery and before the Spillway Bridge, turn right onto the Spillway Boat Launch access road atop the levee. Signs will be posted at this intersection. Do not turn left at the Spillway Office sign, that is not the race site.

The 2^nd largest "Trail Run" in the USA offers a fun, scenic and challenging course. The first 1-1/4 miles is atop the Spillway levee. Then the course turns down into the Spillway and through the "Gauntlet" The Gauntlet usually provides the most mud, water and fun section of the course sometimes at the expenses of ones shoes. (Do not wear new shoes for this race.!) Should the gauntlet claim your shoes, please keep digging to retrieve them, shoes must be worn at all times during the race. The course then turns parallel to the canal and continues back towards the finish line near the pavilion. Along the way you may encounter hard sandy surface, watery troughs, muddy sections, slippery sections, hairpin turns, a log jump or two, a wooden bridge that you may go across or around of. There is heavy forest canopy throughout most of the main trail. New this year, will be signage on the course for those that tend to wander off to keep them on course. Over the past several years, the New Orleans Metro Area Mountain Bike Association (NOMAMBO) has created a mountain bike course on this trail. They have done an excellent job in constructing and maintaining the trail. Don't forget to go by Phidippides Sports in Metairie the week after the race and buy a new pair of shoes!

Weather dictates the course difficulty, which means that WE NEED RAIN, LOTS OF IT PRIOR TO THE RACE DATE!!

NOTE: Regarding the recent opening and closing of the Spillway Flood Control Structure

This has "NO" effect on the race site or course.

For our "21^st" Annual Race" we are proud to provide "Technical" t-shirts thanks to the presenting sponsorship support by Phidippides Sports to our race entrants. These shirts will be available in both men's and women's styles for pre-registered entrants. Entrants that signup after the pre-registered cutoff and on the day of race will not e guaranteed size or type of shirt pending availability. Please sign up early to assist us with sizes and style orders.

Shirts will be available pre-race for pickup at Phidippides on July 16^th (see above-Pre-Race packet and shirt pickup)

Race Scoring and Timing Information (IMPORTANT): **READ THIS PLEASE

Please fill out the scoring tab on your race number. Print your name, age, sex, city/state with waterproof ink (use a ballpoint pen, do not use felt tip). This must be done prior to the race to ensure that you will be scored and listed in the results that are posted on the NOTC website. PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY on your scoring tag. (thank you)

Awards:

Custom awards will be presented to the top 5 overall male and female finishers, 1^st masters, 1^st grandmasters, 1^st Seniors. Awards also to the muddiest male and female finisher and to the muddiest team (3 person minimum) finishers.

To be eligible for awards, the scoring tab on your race number must be filled in with your name, age, sex, prior to the race start. Please use waterproof ink pen only (ballpoint, not felt tip)

*Commemorative awards will be presented to all race finishers.

REFRESHMENTS:

Michelob Ultra Beer, Voodoo BBQ will serve slow smoked pulled pork mini sandwiches and their famous savory corn bread pudding. Pepsi Cola/Diet Pepsi/7UP, Hot Dogs and Chili Dogs (courtesy of the Metairie Runners), Bananas, Kentwood Springs Water, Gatorade, Blue Runner Red Beans and Rice.
