Volunteer Bonus - 2009 Grand Prix
Have you volunteered at any of the following races this year but don't see a 50 point volunteer bonus next to your name in the GP standings? If so send an email to the GP Coordinator and let us know. Also, to ensure your volunteer service is logged please sign in with Martha George at the race.
Here are the races eligible for volunteer bonuses: Elmwood Classic, Run on the Bayou, Run Forrest Run, Al Briede Gold Cup, Greek Festival Race, Free for All Summer Series, Back to the Beach Race, NOTC Anniversary Race, UNCF Run/Walk, Race for the Cure, A Run Through History, Turkey Day Race, Ole Man River, and Jackson Day Race.
Sneaker Speaker Series
The second seminar in the monthly NOTC Sneaker Speaker series will feature Molly Kimball, Sports Dietician. Molly is a well-respected expert in the field of sports and lifestyle nutrition. An established nutrition consultant, she is a registered dietitian, Board Certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics.
The seminar will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2009, from 6:30-8:00 PM at the Lafreniere Foundation Center, 3000 Downs Blvd, Metairie, LA. These monthly seminars are available FREE for NOTC members and class size will be limited, so preregister now.
NOTC Scholarships
The New Orleans Track Club is offering scholarships to new college freshmen that are active in the sport of running. Four scholarships in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1000) will be awarded. Eligibility requirements include participation in a minimum of eight NOTC races in the past twelve months or active membership on a 2008 cross country team or 2009 high school track team. Applications must be submitted by July 15, 2009. Winners will be announced at the NOTC 46th Anniversary Race on August 22, 2009.

NOTC Election Results
The 2009-2010 New Orleans Track Club Board Officers and Members-At-Large were elected at the General Membership and Election Meeting held Wednesday, June 17, 2009. The Officers are: President - Aaron Boudreaux, Vice-President - Kenny Mire, Secretary - Betsy Boudreaux, and Treasurer - Tony Stoltz. Seven Members-At-Large were elected: Steve Attaya, Joy Cohen, Doug Holmes, May King, Geoff Rose, Mary Stadler, and Billie Sloss.
Rock 'n' Roll Mardi Gras Marathon 2010
"The Competitor Group and the New Orleans Track Club today announced a multi-year licensing agreement for the Mardi Gras Marathon. The Rock 'n' Roll Series will add the Mardi Gras Marathon to its schedule of races, hosting the Rock 'n' Roll Mardi Gras Marathon and Half-Marathon in New Orleans on Sunday, February 28, 2010." Registration is now open. The first 500 participants to register for either the marathon or half marathon will receive a special $50 entry fee. Visit the event website for more information.
